Bacon Mushroom Omelette
Everyone needs a go-to omelette recipe. This Bacon Mushroom Omelette happens to have some of my favorite ingredients, bacon, mushroom, and cheese. Back in high school, I would always skip breakfast. I still have no idea how I managed to function properly. I'm such a breakfast fanatic now. Some people just need a protein shake or even a granola bar. I, on the other hand, need all the savory goodness, eggs, bacon, breakfast sausage, ect. I hope you all enjoy this savory dish!
Is It Omelette or Omelet?
Before we get into the recipe, let's answer a really important question: how do you spell omelet? The answer – both are correct. I'll rely on Grammarly to settle this one:
Omelet is the standard spelling in American English. But omelette beats omelet in British English. The British spelling, omelette, is actually the modern French spelling. (Omelets originated in France).
So there you have it! I'm using the British and modern French spelling in my recipe. But they are all the same dish, when you get right down to it.
How do you make an omelette?
It is a really simple dish. To make an omelette, you just need a few ingredients:
- Eggs
- Milk
- Bacon
- Mushrooms
- Chives
- Garlic
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
This is how to make a perfect omelette. I have more detailed instructions in the printable recipe card further down.

- Cook mushrooms and garlic in the pan, add bacon bits back in
- Beat eggs and milk with an electric mixer.

What to Put in an Omelette
The best thing about omelettes is that you can put (almost) anything you want inside of them. I made a bacon mushroom omelette because I love the crispiness of the bacon with the earthy flavor of the mushrooms.
Here are some more omelette filling ideas:
- Just cheese
- Ham and cheese
- Sweet potatoes
- Peppers
- Zucchini and yellow squash
- Peppers and Tomatoes
- Corn
